Plans to establish Sunderland's first disabled youth football
team are well under way with the help of

Humbeldon & Plains Farm Youth Football.

The brainchild of Mark Dunn who's son has cerebral palsy,
Mark approched the Club in the hope of setting up a team
for children with disabilities to play football.

An initial meeting was held at the Club's ground within
Plains Farm Primary School with Club officials, who were
very keen to get it up and running. With the backing of the
Durham FA and Sunderland City Council who pledged their
support.
|
|
Two coaches from the Club will take the Disability Coaching
Course in order to give Josh and other children with
disabilities the very best coaching possible.
|
The training sessions are up and running with an appointed
and approved FA coach.It is becoming a great success
which run on a Sunday morning at the Club's ground.

Joining in on one of the sessions was Stephen Prior the
England goalkeeper for the National Cerebral Palsy team
who showed up to show off his shot stopping skills between
the posts.
